Voter Information

How to Register

You can register to vote online at GoVoteTN.gov, by mail, or in person at Shelby County Election Commission offices. Applications must be postmarked or submitted at least 30 days before an election. To be eligible, you must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of Tennessee, and 18 years old on or before Election Day.

Important 2026 Dates

  • April 15 – April 30: Early Voting Period (County Primary)
  • May 5: Shelby County Primary Election
  • July 17 – August 1: Early Voting Period (County General)
  • August 6: Shelby County General Election

Voter ID & Polling

All voters must present a Tennessee state or federal government-issued photo ID. Polling places are open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Election Day. You must vote at your assigned precinct on Election Day, but you can visit any early voting location during the designated early voting periods.
