Competitive Wages & Fair Compensation
$25/HOUR STARTING WAGE
We are committed to ensuring that every worker in Memphis is treated with dignity and paid fairly. This proposal establishes a $25/hour starting wage for entry-level non-public-safety City of Memphis positions, subject to legal, budgetary, and City Council approval. We also advocate for competitive public-safety compensation to attract and retain the dedicated professionals who keep our neighborhoods safe.

ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY FOR EVERY MEMPHIAN
Good Jobs. Better Wages. Stronger Businesses. A Growing Memphis.
BUILD IT IN MEMPHIS. HIRE MEMPHIS. GROW MEMPHIS.
Memphis has incredible economic potential. Our location, our workforce, and our local businesses are the engines that drive our city forward. However, for too long, many of our residents have been left out of the growth we’ve seen. To build a Memphis that works for everyone, we must expand economic opportunity to every neighborhood.
Our strategy focuses on four key pillars: creating good-paying jobs, investing in workforce development, supporting small business growth, and ensuring responsible investment in our city. By prioritizing these areas, we can create a sustainable economic future where all Memphians have the chance to succeed.
Good-Paying Jobs
Work to attract and grow employers that provide competitive wages, benefits, career development, and opportunities for Memphis residents.
Workforce Development
Connect residents with vocational training, certifications, apprenticeships, and career pathways tied to employment opportunities.
Small-Business Growth
Support local entrepreneurs and existing Memphis businesses with stronger connections to resources, contracting opportunities, and economic-development programs.
Investment in Memphis
Pursue responsible economic-development strategies that encourage businesses to invest, create jobs, hire locally, and contribute to Memphis's long-term growth.
