A BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE FOR MEMPHIS
Clean Neighborhoods. Better Infrastructure. Stronger Communities. A City We’re Proud to Call Home.
Quality of life is about what Memphians experience every day—the condition of our streets, the cleanliness of our neighborhoods, reliable city services, transportation, parks and recreation, healthcare affordability, and the overall appearance of our city.
As Mayor, I will work to make quality of life a citywide priority by focusing on the basic services residents expect while also planning responsibly for Memphis’s future.
Our goal will be a Memphis that is cleaner, better connected, more accessible, and stronger for every generation.
Clean & Beautiful Neighborhoods
Address litter, illegal dumping, overgrown properties, abandoned structures, and neighborhood blight while strengthening beautification efforts.
Infrastructure & Transportation
Improve streets and infrastructure while exploring transportation investments that can better connect residents with jobs, education, healthcare, Downtown, and other destinations.
Parks, Recreation & Public Spaces
Strengthen parks, recreational opportunities, community spaces, and Memphis destinations that families can enjoy.
Efficient City Services
Improve coordination, accountability, responsiveness, and performance so residents receive dependable services from their city government.
CLEANER NEIGHBORHOODS → BETTER SERVICES → STRONGER COMMUNITIES → A BETTER MEMPHIS

Infrastructure & Parks

We are committed to a Memphis that is clean, safe, and connected. Our infrastructure plans focus on modernizing our transportation network and restoring our riverfront to be a vibrant destination for all.

RESPECTING & SUPPORTING MEMPHIS SANITATION WORKERS
RESPECT. DIGNITY. REPRESENTATION.
Standing With the Men and Women Who Keep Memphis Clean
HONORING MEMPHIS HISTORY
HONORING THE PAST. PROTECTING TODAY’S WORKERS.
The 1968 Memphis sanitation workers’ strike became a defining moment in the struggle for dignity, fair treatment, and workers’ rights. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. came to Memphis to support the sanitation workers and was assassinated in Memphis on April 4, 1968.
That history should remind city leadership of its responsibility to listen to workers, respect their service, and continually work toward safer and fairer working conditions.
HONOR THE PAST. RESPECT TODAY’S WORKERS. BUILD A BETTER FUTURE.
Memphis sanitation employees perform essential work every day. They serve our neighborhoods in difficult conditions and help protect the cleanliness, health, and quality of life of our entire city.
As Mayor, I will work with sanitation employees, supervisors, managers, labor representatives, and city leadership to strengthen workplace safety, communication, fair treatment, training, and employee representation.
Workplace Safety
Make employee safety a priority through proper equipment, training, procedures, and attention to working conditions.
Fair Treatment
Promote a workplace culture where employees are treated professionally, consistently, and with dignity and respect.
Employee Representation
Work to ensure employees have appropriate avenues for representation, communication, and addressing workplace concerns.
Labor Partnerships & MOUs
Work constructively with labor representatives and city officials to review existing agreements and determine where lawful Memorandums of Understanding or other agreements could strengthen workplace protections, communication, accountability, and service delivery.
Affordable & Efficient Healthcare
HEALTHCARE THAT WORKS FOR MEMPHIS FAMILIES
Working Together. Reducing Costs. Protecting Benefits.
Rising healthcare costs affect government employees, retirees, families, and taxpayers. Memphis should explore responsible ways to use greater purchasing power, reduce unnecessary administrative duplication, and improve efficiency while protecting access to quality healthcare.
As Mayor, I will propose a comprehensive evaluation of opportunities for the City of Memphis and Shelby County government agencies to coordinate or consolidate healthcare purchasing and benefits administration, where legally and financially appropriate.
The objective is simple: determine whether working together can lower costs, improve efficiency, and strengthen healthcare benefits for employees, retirees, and their families.
STUDY → ENGAGE → ANALYZE → PROPOSE → APPROVE → IMPLEMENT
A RESPONSIBLE APPROACH
Consolidation should not be presented as an automatic guarantee of savings. My commitment is to conduct the analysis, bring the appropriate stakeholders together, determine whether consolidation or greater coordination would produce measurable benefits, and move forward only if it makes financial and operational sense.
Healthcare should protect the health of our employees and retirees while also protecting the financial future of their families.
Reduce Costs
Explore whether combined purchasing power and coordinated healthcare administration could reduce costs for participating government agencies.
Protect Quality Coverage
Cost savings should not come at the expense of quality healthcare. Protecting employees, retirees, and their families must remain a priority.
Improve Efficiency
Identify unnecessary duplication and opportunities to streamline healthcare purchasing and benefits administration.
Work Together
Bring the City, County, participating agencies, employees, retirees, labor representatives, healthcare professionals, and financial experts into the evaluation process.
