Memphis Vocational Training & Workforce Center
Employer Partnerships & Career Placement
FROM TRAINING TO A CAREER
Connecting Memphis Talent With Memphis Opportunity
Training should lead somewhere. The Memphis Vocational Training & Workforce Center would work to build direct relationships with employers, unions, apprenticeship programs, educational institutions, and workforce organizations so residents can connect their training with real employment opportunities.
The goal is to understand what skills employers need, prepare residents for those opportunities, and create a stronger bridge between completing training and beginning a career.
“Success will not simply be measured by how many people enter training. It will be measured by how effectively we help connect Memphians with careers and long-term opportunity.”
Employer Partnerships
Work directly with Memphis-area employers to identify workforce needs, required skills, certifications, and employment opportunities.
Apprenticeship Connections
Connect qualified residents with registered apprenticeship and other earn-while-you-learn opportunities offered by participating employers and labor organizations.
Career Placement Services
Provide assistance with résumés, interviewing, job searches, career fairs, employer recruitment events, and connections to available positions.
Career Advancement
Continue helping workers identify additional certifications, training, and professional-development opportunities that can lead to advancement and higher earning potential.
EMPLOYER NEEDS → TRAINING → CERTIFICATION → APPRENTICESHIP/EXPERIENCE → EMPLOYMENT → CAREER ADVANCEMENT
IMAGINE A MEMPHIS WHERE OPPORTUNITY IS BETTER CONNECTED.
MEMPHIS REGIONAL RAIL VISION
Connecting Neighborhoods. Connecting People. Connecting Opportunity.
Memphis is a major transportation and logistics city. My vision is to explore how a modern passenger rail network could become part of our future—connecting neighborhoods with jobs, education, healthcare, businesses, entertainment, Downtown, and Memphis International Airport.
As Mayor, I will work with transportation professionals, community leaders, residents, businesses, and local, state, regional, and federal partners to evaluate the feasibility of building a modern rail network that can support Memphis for generations to come.
This vision is about more than transportation. It is about economic development, job creation, neighborhood connectivity, workforce opportunities, and building infrastructure for Memphis's future.
CONCEPTUAL VISION — NOT FINAL ENGINEERING OR AN APPROVED ALIGNMENT
Proposed routes, stations, costs, timelines, funding sources, technology, and alignments shown on this website are conceptual. Any rail project would require feasibility studies, engineering and environmental analysis, public engagement, identification of sustainable funding, coordination with appropriate transportation agencies, and governmental approvals before implementation.
Connect Neighborhoods
Explore rail corridors that could provide stronger connections among communities throughout Memphis.
Connect People to Jobs
