Protecting Our Neighborhoods

James Jeff Fuller Sr First Responders.png

We are committed to building safer neighborhoods and stronger communities across Memphis. We will support our first responders, strengthen community trust, address neighborhood blight, and invest in prevention and opportunity so every Memphian can feel safe and secure in the neighborhood they call home.

Our Police Officers, Firefighters, Sheriff's Deputies, Correctional Deputies, Correctional Officers, Teachers, emergency responders, and other public-safety professionals serve on the front lines every day. As Mayor, I will work to ensure they have the staffing, training, equipment, technology, and leadership support necessary to serve Memphis safely and effectively.

We will also focus on competitive compensation, recruitment, retention, professional development, and employee wellness—because a safer Memphis requires a strong, well-trained, and supported public-safety workforce.

Supporting Our First Responders

We will prioritize the safety and well-being of those who protect us. This means ensuring competitive pay, modern equipment, and the mental health support our police and fire departments need to keep Memphis safe and feel supported by their city.

Cleaning Up & Restoring Our Neighborhoods

Strong neighborhoods start with clean streets. We will launch a comprehensive initiative to eliminate illegal dumping, clear overgrown lots, and hold property owners accountable for blight, restoring pride to every corner of our community.

Prevention, Youth & Opportunity

The best way to fight crime is to prevent it before it starts. By investing in youth mentorship, vocational training, and community-led programs, we provide the pathways to opportunity that ensure a brighter, safer future for Memphis.

Protect Our Neighborhoods

We will work with law enforcement, neighborhood leaders, businesses, faith-based organizations and residents to identify community-specific public safety challenges and develop solutions that make our neighborhoods safer.

Support Our First Responders

Police officers, firefighters, emergency personnel and other frontline employees perform critical work. My administration will focus on recruitment, retention, competitive compensation, training, equipment and accountability.

Clean & Restore Memphis

Abandoned properties, illegal dumping, overgrown lots and neglected areas can damage a neighborhood's quality of life. We will strengthen coordination to address blight, improve cleanliness and hold responsible parties accountable.

Invest in Prevention & Opportunity

Long-term public safety requires opportunity. We will connect young people and adults with education, vocational training, apprenticeships, employment and community programs that provide pathways toward successful careers.

“Public safety begins on the street where you live.”

We will work neighborhood by neighborhood and community by community to build a Memphis where families can live, children can learn, businesses can grow and residents can feel proud of the places they call home.

Together, We Will Build a Safer Memphis.

“Together, we will build a Memphis where families feel safe, young people see opportunity, and every neighborhood has a future.”
